Abstract |
This report contains the results of the deliberations of the JPOTS sub-panel on standards for CO2 measurements at their three meetings (Vancouver, 1987; Acapulco, 1988; La Jolla, 1990). It emphasizes the need for reference materials for the quality control of oceanic carbon dioxide measurements, and details those factors that must be considered in the preparation and certification of such reference materials. The report goes on to describe the progress that has been achieved towards producing such materials, and recommends the further steps that need to be undertaken to implement an adequate quality control plan for CO2 measurements made as a part of international programs such as the Joint Global Ocean Flux Study (JGOFS). |
