Open WL Archief (OWA)

Simone is a Professor at the Universidade Federal Rural de Pernambuco, in Northeastern Brazil. Her main research interests are in biodiversity, paleontology, macroecology, paleo-biogeography, systematics and taxonomy of Ostracoda from virtually all kinds of marine ecosystems, from the intertidal to the deepest oceanic trenches. Over the years, she has participated in several international research projects and initiatives, as IODP, ANDEEP, DIVA. She is a member of diverse national and international networks involving the extinct and extant biodiversity research, the Ocean Sensus, Census of Marine Life, Taxonomic Catalog of the Fauna of Brazil. Within WoRMS, she represents ethnic and regional (global south) diversity. She is a member of the WoRMS Steering Committee. She is the chief taxonomic editor for Ostracoda in WoRMS and the World Ostracoda Database. She is also involved in the regional Antarctic Register and the thematic World Register of Deep-Sea Species.
