Over het archief

Het OWA, het open archief van het Waterbouwkundig Laboratorium heeft tot doel alle vrij toegankelijke onderzoeksresultaten van dit instituut in digitale vorm aan te bieden. Op die manier wil het de zichtbaarheid, verspreiding en gebruik van deze onderzoeksresultaten, alsook de wetenschappelijke communicatie maximaal bevorderen.

Dit archief wordt uitgebouwd en beheerd volgens de principes van de Open Access Movement, en het daaruit ontstane Open Archives Initiative.

Abstract:

Het onderzoek van de onderzoeksgroep Electrochemical and Surface Engineering (SURF) richt zich op 'elektrochemie' en 'oppervlakken' en hun interactie. De belangrijkste onderzoeksonderwerpen kunnen worden ondergebracht in vier overlappende thema's: corrosietechnologie; elektrochemische modellering; elektrochemische en oppervlakteprocessen; multifunctionele oppervlakken en nieuwe materialen. De aanpak van SURF om zowel fundamentele als toepassingsgerichte aspecten te behandelen is er een van het combineren van experimentele en modelleringstechnieken. Experimentele technieken zijn gericht op oppervlakte- en elektrochemische karakterisering. De groep combineert expertise in zowel elektrochemische methoden als in-situ en ex-situ oppervlakte analytische technieken. In de context van SURF betekent modelleren het construeren van modellen en het ontwikkelen van numerieke tools om de wiskunde achter de modellen te behandelen. Het mariene onderzoek richt zich op corrosie van offshore structuren (funderingen).
